Terms of Service

You must be at least 18 years old to use Korta. You may only create an account for yourself, with accurate information, and you're responsible for everything that happens on your account. Keep your sign-in credentials to yourself, and tell us right away if you think your account has been compromised.

Korta helps you find people to play tennis with, arrange matches and hits, log results, track your Korta Score, and share activity with other players. Korta is a way to meet other players — matches, hits, and anything else you arrange happen in the real world, between you and the people you choose to play with.

Korta lets you post content: profile details and photos, posts, comments, match results, messages, and anything else you create in the app (“your content”). Your content stays yours. You give Korta a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and distribute it as needed to run Korta — for example, showing your post in your connections' feeds. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except where content remains visible to others as described in our Privacy Policy (for example, match results shared with the players who took part).

You are responsible for your content. Only post things you have the right to share, and that follow the community rules below.

Korta is a community of real people meeting to play tennis, and we have zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior. You agree not to post, share, or send content that:

• Harasses, threatens, bullies, or intimidates anyone, or encourages others to do so
• Is hateful or discriminatory on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or age
• Is sexually explicit, pornographic, or gratuitously violent
• Exploits or endangers minors in any way — we report this to the authorities
• Is defamatory, deceptive, fraudulent, or impersonates another person
• Shares someone else's private information without their consent
• Is spam, commercial solicitation, or repeated unwanted contact
• Infringes anyone's intellectual property rights
• Is illegal or promotes illegal activity

You also agree not to misuse the service itself: no scraping, reverse engineering, interfering with Korta's operation, creating accounts by automated means, misrepresenting match results to manipulate ratings, or circumventing blocks, suspensions, or other enforcement.

We take steps to keep Korta safe: we filter objectionable content, and every post, comment, and profile can be reported in the app. We review reports of objectionable content promptly — ordinarily within 24 hours — and remove content that violates these terms and eject users responsible for it.

You can block any player from their profile, a conversation, or their posts. Blocking immediately removes their content from your feed and stops them from contacting you, and it notifies us so we can review their behavior.

We may remove or restrict any content, and suspend or terminate any account, at our discretion and without prior notice, if we believe these terms have been violated or to protect Korta or its users.

Korta connects you with other players, but we don't vet them, and we're not responsible for what happens when you meet in person. Use good judgment the way you would meeting anyone new: play at public courts, tell someone where you're going, and trust your instincts. Tennis is a physical activity — know your limits and play at your own risk.

Your Korta Score, match history, streaks, and trophies are calculated by Korta from logged results. They exist for fun and matchmaking, may be recalculated as our rating system evolves, and carry no monetary value. We may correct results or ratings affected by errors or manipulation.

The Korta app, website, name, logo, design, and everything else that makes up the service (other than your content and other players' content) belong to Korta and are protected by intellectual property law. We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for its intended purpose. Don't copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from it.

You can stop using Korta at any time and delete your account in the app (Profile → Delete Account) — our Privacy Policy explains what happens to your data. We may suspend or terminate your account as described in section 5. Sections of these terms that by their nature should survive termination (like sections 3, 8, 10, 11, and 12) survive it.

Korta is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement. We don't guarantee that Korta will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, that ratings are accurate, or that other players are who they say they are.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Korta and its team will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for personal injury, property damage, or disputes arising from interactions or games with other players. To the extent liability cannot be excluded, our total liability for any claim relating to Korta is limited to the greater of $100 or the amount you paid us in the past twelve months. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

If your content or your violation of these terms causes a third party to bring a claim against Korta, you agree to indemnify Korta against the resulting losses, costs, and reasonable legal fees.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that can't be resolved informally will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Travis County, Texas, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Please reach out first — most issues can be sorted out with a message.

If we make material changes we'll notify you in the app or by email, and we'll always update the effective date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Korta after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
